Our servers allow you to compress and extract files in formats such as .zip, .bz2, .gz, .tar, .tar.bz2, and .tar.gz.

Although you can upload .rar files to our servers, keep in mind that RAR is proprietary software, which is not included with Linux. As a result, it cannot usually be extracted through the shell or File Manager in cPanel.

How to Extract a File in cPanel

Extracting files in cPanel is a straightforward process. You can easily manage your archives using the File Manager. Here's how to extract a file:

STEP 1: Log in to cPanel.

There are two methods to log into your cPanel.

  • Method 1: Log in to your cPanel directly.
  • Method 2: Log in to your cPanel through your Customer Portal.

Through your Customer Portal;                          

  • Log in to your Customer Portal.
  • Click on "Log in to cPanel".

STEP 2: Locate the Files section and click on File Manager.

STEP 3: Choose the file you want to extract. You can either click Extract in the top-right corner of the File Manager or right-click on the file you wish to extract.

STEP 4: Specify the directory where you want to extract the files.

STEP 5: Click on Extract File(s) to proceed.

How to Compress a File in cPanel

Compressing files in cPanel is simple and can help save space or make it easier to upload. Here's how to do it:

STEP 1: Log in to cPanel (Refer to the steps above if you need guidance on accessing your cPanel.)

STEP 2: Locate the Files section and click on File Manager.

STEP 5: Enter a name for the compressed archive and click Compress File(s).
